I’ve recently started a new blog. Also a wordpress under the name “rentharrison”. I think I’ll be using that one for film related posts. Reviews, essays, rants, critiques.
Here, I still want to be slightly personal. I don’t wanna mesh the two. I’m obsessive. So I think I’ll be doing lots more lists. Lists fascinate me. They can be oddly controversial, as well.

About a year ago, Blockbuster Video started integrating consumer electronics into their retail arsenal. However, the products weren’t that fantastic. One of the first products sent to us was a small pink Flip Video Camera with a USB cord attached for easy YouTube uploading. We had fun. This is somewhat of a prologue for what will be a series of very short videos featuring the long lost footage that has since been found. The videos will be posted on YouTube, Facebook, and the least checked place, Bubes.

The Great Depression, Second Wave

Earlier on this year, I was with a few friends and one of them had casually mentioned how his grandma lived through the great depression and remembers it vividly. She’s still alive now, and that’s when another friend promptly said “well, it looks like we’re gonna squeeze one more in for her before she checks out”. I’m paraphrasing, but its the truth, and I don’t think it really hit me until a week or so ago. I’ve heard so much from my whole family about this and their beliefs that its tied to the end of times and the rapture followed by the second coming of Christ, and I could fill pages of what I’d like to say, but that’d take too much time as of now, and it’d be a mess of ideals and confusion.

So instead of worrying how I can fix this, I immediately thought about how I could keep myself sane and trudge through should it become this bad. Just like then, when movies cost a nickel and that gave you food and a double feature, we need something that allows us to be entertained so cheaply. I think I’ve found what I’m falling into. Right now, there’s speculation that the Blu-Ray format won’t survive due to the awful economic state we’re sitting in, and it makes sense due to the high cost of production and purchase of said discs. But, I’ve got a feeling that people will start reading again. It just seems logical due to the cost/use ratio. Think about how much a book costs versus how much you truly get out of it. I suppose this is just my hope. We’ll see how it pans out. I’ve been cataloging various graphic novels and books I’ve yet to get through that I desperately want to.

They’re cheap, they’re fun and they get the job done. I don’t know what I was trying to accomplish with this. I’m just kinda scared I suppose, and I need a new job. Interestingly enough, I’ve been considering applying at book related places. Perhaps its a desire to be relocated to a place where thought is more prevalent and the masses aren’t as ravenous, or it could be a desire to push myself to finally become as well-read as I appear to others.

Angelallical Weekend.

I’ve decided I need to document this, but not in a traditional way. The weekend had been very angellalical indeed, with a hint joeblicality. Together we learned things. Things about each other, ourselves and about others too. The connection we share is the equivalent of being very self aware and having an clear vision of yourself. Its reassurance of the best kind. I suppose this entry could be shorter than any other because most of what was learned came naturally. If I’m to sum it up in a short sentence, it’d be this: I’m glad to know that whatever I think, do, or go through, I’ll have a friend who understands it better than most others, and I know this friendship is a meaningful and lasting one. I think those are sufficient words. I also got some great perspectives on a few key people in my daily routine. Quite fun, and we’ll have to see how things play out with those…people. I think the three people, if that, who read this will know which people I’m talking about, especially Angela.

Fall 2006, And Then Some.

These past few weeks I’ve had a feeling of winter fast approaching, but not in a bad way. It’s seemingly unusually welcome. I’ve been having flashbacks to the fall of 06. These aren’t feelings that make me want to relive those moments. I’ve lived them, they’re done. I just feel that I’m finally growing and learning from that time.

I have grown since that time, but not in relation to what happened in that time. I don’t know what I’m saying anymore. But it makes sense in my head.

So classes are interesting, I’ll break them down for you.

Actin’ One – Its a bit too much fun. Best class yet? We’ll see.

Detective Stuff 101 – My teacher came off as slightly odd, but very likable. For some reason, I immediately thought he was gay, until he continued to talk about his wife continually. And being stubborn, I wasn’t convinced.

Speakin! – I’m already the hit of the class. I made that known on day one. GOAL: Woo all the ladies with my glowing confidence. [end cocky post.]

Pictures, The Movin’ Kind – Taking pictures, a lot, Mr. G is cool as usual. George is without a doubt one of the most interesting people I know, and I want a “Hollywood” name too.

Music: The Documentary – Kinda boring. My teacher is never there. John Sawyer is in my class and we all know that John Sawyer = Pretty Dang Cool

I’m still bitter towards Becky. I’m hurt but not hurt in the ways I’ve been hurt before. This is more a feeling of betrayal than anything else. I heard through the grapevine that karma got her, but I’ll never be able to confirm it. She still has a few of my DVD’s and I’m feeling that I’ll never see them again. This could be the one exception to my efforts to stay friends with all my ex-girlfriends.

Hey, It’s Almost September!

Yes, it most definitely is. A lot has changed. I’ll most likely be writing in this more now. I feel like I need to, I owe it to myself. I’m promising myself right now I won’t be bitter. I’ll just accept it, and move forward.

I need money. One last loan. That’s all, then I can finish college.

I’ve been told I’m an INFP. For a few minutes after reading that, I did stop and try to figure out what it stood for. I was nowhere close.

I really wish money didn’t exist at this point. It’s so depressing to think about how much of my future depends on whether my bank account is full or not. I’ll be able to save more now though since I won’t have to pay rent this all as I was expecting to.

So since finding out I’m an INFP, It’s kinda allowed me to help understand myself a bit better and pinpoint things about me I knew but couldn’t quite put words to before. I’m sure I’ll mention more of this as time goes on. I have to write a paper about it too. Luckily I don’t need any sources since I’m writing in AMG format.

BEGIN SCHOOL POST

So this semester begins far too soon. I have five classes that may or may not destroy me, but we’ll see. Let’s review them!

Acting I: Basic Skills

- I don’t know how to act. At all. But that’s why I’m in here. I’m thinking I might make up a character to play for the whole semester. And then reveal it at the end that I’m not who I said I was and end up breaking the nerdy-but-hot girl who falls for my alter ego. Then I’ll write it into a feature film. Yeah.

Culture, Race & Media

- Can You Say “Easy A”? I can!

Oral Expression

- Gonna learn me how talkin s’posed to be done, inna public settin.

Image Design For Cinema

- This class will give me the necessary skills to better tell a story visually. I’m down for it since I get to use my sweet Bolex, hopefully. Plus, I share this class with two people who have awesome names: Chase and Costa. I’ve met way too many people with cool Hollywood names. My name isn’t so much.

Literary Genres: Detective Fiction

- That subtitle to the class made me go “Holy shit!” and sign up. I just feel like there’s something funny about analyzing people analyzing things. Now I’ll finally have some good use for my deerstalker cap and calabash pipe.
